Nathan Smith, 31, beat Tim Spitz, 7 and 6, to win the U.S. Mid-Amateur. Smith was a member of the victorious U.S. Walker Cup team last month.
Tim Spitz, who’s playing in just his second USGA championship, advanced to the U.S. Mid-Amateur final on Thursday. He’ll face U.S. Walker Cup team member Nathan Smith.
